Do you know how you can spot the moment when a hypercar gets off the initial pedestal and starts generating what we call return on investment emotions for its owners?
We're still working on the complete algorithm for that. But when you see a six pack of 918 Spyders launching from the lights in battle formation, you know this Porsche is far from sticking to the desktop wallpapers on our computers. These hybrid hypercars are being put to work. And with around $8 million having been spent on them, they have quite some thrilling to do.

It's all explained in the clip below (via Shmee150), which shows the Porsche halo cars playing together on Newport Coast Drive in California.

Did we say Porsche halo cars? We meant 0.65 percent of the total 918 Spyder production. All in one place, hooning as a common Zuffenhausen-born organism.

Sure, these hybrids are not exactly driven with green credentials in mind here. But look at it this way - the combined electric power of these machines makes for the output of a Veyron.

The sheer concert offered by the combined voices of those motorsport-bred V8s is one of the greatest tributes to natural aspiration we get until Porsche goes turbo.

A few BIG numbers

When you come across such family affairs, a video is not enough, so we've brought you two of them. The second clip below shows the Porsches parked next to each other for a photo shoot. They say that this piece of footage is invisible to Porsche engineers.

It's not that they can't see their own cars, but instead of the shapes and colors we distinguish, the Weissach and Zuffenhausen people see numbers. For instance, 5,400 hp waiting to be unleashed. That's fifteen and a half measured in 911 Carreras, or just over twenty Boxsters.

And if you still haven't had enough of this hypercar shenanigan, we also have a photo gallery, showing the Porsche family quality time scenes.

As to why they left the lights in such a hurry, we'll go ahead and guess they were late for Cars and Coffee and all out of excuses.
