The Volkswagen Typ 1 or the Volkswagen Bettle how it is well-known around the world was created with a precise purpose: to be as economical as possible, as Adolf Hitler wanted a cheap, simple car to be mass-produced for the new road network of his country.
As it turned out, the two-door, four-passenger, rear-engined car for the masses proved to be a hit and worldwide popularity was only one step away. However, not all Beetles are cheap to buy, especially this particular one that made us start this article in the first place.

Forget about cheap solutions for transportation, as one dealer in Wolfsburg, Germany is offering a VW Beetle 1600 for 1,000,000 euros ($1,097,000 at current exchange rates). After you found out the price tag, you must ask yourself why is this Beetle so unique that someone thinks it can sell it for a fortune?

To start with, we should note that this is a Última Edición Beetle. If this doesn't clear the air, here's some more intel on the car. It's one of the last cars assembled in Mexico before the production was cut off in 2003.

According to the sale ad posted on Classic Trader, this particular model is 'the very last from the second last day of production'. Other than that, it is powered by a four-cylinder petrol engine good for 46 HP and has a mileage of just 120 km (75 miles).

The car's exterior is painted in beige (or 'harvestmoonbeige' if we were to respect the manufacturer's color name) while the interior is dominated by black materials, including the fabric seats.

There's no doubt about the car's well-cemented place in the automotive hall of fame, but seriously, who will pay $1 million for it?
