Japanese fans of the BMW brand have been spoiled lately with a couple of special edition models. There’s a new one heading their way these days and it’s using the 3 Series GT platform as a basis. Actually, to be completely honest, it is a 3 Series GT but it’s called the Luxury Lounge edition. So, what’s so special about it?
Don’t expect a new engine, chassis or who knows what. Just like all the other limited-run models put up for sale over in land of the rising sun lately, this one is made special by the equipment it’s wearing and how the optional features are combined on it.

The 3er will be available only in Alpine White or Imperial Blue while the interior will be decked with such amenities like Dakota leather in Veneto Beige, fine burr walnut wood interior trims with inlays and accent strips in Pearl Gloss Chrome.

On top of that you’ll also get the Navigation System Professional, heated seats, Head-Up Display, Parking Assistant, a hi-fi sound system, Driving Assistant Plus, surround view cameras and light alloy wheels as standard.

Under the bonnet there’s only one engine choice, the 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged plant making 184 HP and 270 Nm (200 lb-ft) of torque of the 320i. With the adjacent 8-speed automatic gearbox the car will do 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.9 seconds and return 37.9 mpg (6.2 l/100 km).

Only 140 units will be built and they will go on sale starting April 1st in Japan. Unfortunately, we don’t have any info on the pricing at the moment but considering that the 3 Series GT starts at JPY5,290,000 or around $44,000 at today’s exchange rates, expect this special edition to be a bit more expensive.
