Spy Video: 2016 Audi A4 Sedan (B9) Seen Lapping Nurburgring ahead of Debut

We know for a fact that Audi is going to put the all-new A4 sedan into production later in 2015. It's the biggest launch scheduled this year after the Q7 and this fresh spy video previews what we can expect.

The A4 sedan prototype can be seen driving on the grueling Nurburgring test track with way too much camouflage considering the launch of the car is scheduled to take place a few months from now. It takes on the Karussell and looks relatively flat for a normal executive saloon.

Once the A4 left the track, we got a chance to film it in more detail. Based on the fact that it only has one exhaust system, we can presume that this is the A4 ultra model, streamlined for efficiency and low CO2 emissions.

After that comes another prototype, with one exhaust pipe on either side and the S line body kit peaking from underneath the camouflage.

Earlier this month, Audi unveiled a brand new 2.0 TFSI turbo engine, which it says consumes less than 5 l/100 (47 mpg US). It produced 190 horsepower and is said to combine the benefits of both petrol and diesel engines.

The most basic A4 models are said to adopt the familiar 1.4 TFSI turbo, borrowed from the smaller A4 and adapted for this application. However, most buyers will opt for one of the 2.0 TDI variants, one of which will be part of the A4 e-tron plug-in hybrid.

Testing for the S4 and S4 Avant has already begun. We believe that Audi will either use an existing 3-liter TFSI or create a brand new diesel system with electric supercharging like the one implemented on the A6 TDI concept of 2014.

The RS4 is at least two more years away from reaching production readiness, but the initial information is encouraging. The sedan body may be revived in a bid to compete with BMW and Mercedes while the output could come close to the 500 hp mark.
