Two Mystery Lexus Models Might Debut at 2015 Detroit Auto Show

Lexus is catching up in this fill-the-niche game every other respectable automaker is playing now. The luxury car maker won’t go bellow the CT hatch model, but it already came up with the new RC coupe, its F performance version as well as the new NX compact crossover in the same year and that’s not all, as next year it could bring us yet another model or two.

Speaking with Wards Auto at the LA Auto Show this month, Lexus Group Vice President Jeff Bracken mentioned among other boring sales data and strategies that at least one, if not two, new models will be unveiled at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

GS F? GS F! Is that you?

Of course, he said nothing about what’s there to come, but we have a hunch the Lexus GS F is one of them. In our latest spyshots, the sedan looks quite ready to go on sale and the upcoming salon will be the perfect place to showcase it if the car is going to hit dealerships later that year.

As far as we can tell, the GS F will adopt a front fascia very similar to what you see on the new RC F performance coupe, with a bulged hood and all to make some more room for the 5-liter V8 that should crank over 500 hp to put it on par with the competition.

The GS F should also come with side vents, the already classic slanted double-barrel exhausts, a rear lip spoiler, a sport tuned suspension as well as a limited-slip differential.

And the other mystery model could be...

The next generation RX crossover, of course. Why? Because that’s the best selling SUV Lexus is offering now despite the model’s age. The current third generation is on sale since 2008, which means it’s entering its 8th year on the market and a slight facelift won’t cut it anymore in the near future.

The last RX facelift happened in 2012, being introduced at the Geneva Motor Show and adding new wheels, interior colors, redesigned headlights and taillamps as well as a new spindle grille.

If such a model will be showcased at Detroit in January, the production version could hit the market in 2016.
