Take This Renault! Older Volvo Truck Transports 35-ton Dead Whale

We were all quite surprised when a Renault truck and trailer jumped the Lotus F1 running demonstration car, about a month ago. But seeing an older Volvo truck carrying a 35-ton dead whale is on another level.
Since we’re not professional truck drivers (who actually need to drive these machines for several hours every day and get the merchandise to the destination), we find these mean machines quite intriguing. They obviously are not as fun to drive as a sportscar, nor are they adventurous as say a 6x6 truck, but these babies come with some impressive power. And what better way to prove that if not by transporting tremendous loads.

The video in question was taken by Barcroft and shows a moving operation held on the coast of Almeria, Spain. A giant 35-ton whale carcass is lifted on to a removal truck after it was found floating near the beach. The female adult fin whale measured around 16 meters (52,5 foot), without the tale it was missing when it was found.

The operation was organized and surveilled by rescue organization Equinac who successfully moved the creature with the help of the Coast Guard, the Almeria Port Authority, the Spanish Ministry of Environment and the local police.

Biologist Alexander Sanchez, who was also the one to conduct the operation and works for the non-profit company, said that the huge mammal had likely been struck by a vessel and had to be removed as it posed a danger to passing ships.

The entire deed was obviously not something planned, but we're sure it could easily make for a good Volvo advertorial.
