Matt Farah is a man that is hard to impress, especially when it comes to cars. He tested virtually almost any kind of car you can think of during his career and has recently started testing privately-owned cars to see just how much of a difference tuning can make.
He recently travelled to New Zealand and had to spend some time with the locals and their cars. As he found out, there’s quite a big number of aficionados out there, aficionados that own some of the fastest cars in the world.

One of them is Faizal Ramzan, and the man owns and built a 1,000 HP R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R. How? Well, with a lot of passion and dedication, that’s how.

Our good man bought an RB30 engine from RIPS (a local motorsport company) and then started working on it. Usually, RIPS modified engine are capable of putting down around 600 HP but his car needed more.

As a matter of fact, when tuned for the track, the wheels would put down 1,000 HP. However, on the morning Matt tested the Nissan, due to the damp roads, that amount was taken down to 720 HP. Was it enough to impress him? You damn right it was!

It was so impressive that our good man and host of The Smoking Tire made it one of his life goals to get one of these 1,000 HP beasts for himself in nine years (at the most). Why would it be such an issue?

Well, first of all, R34 GTRs are banned in the US for road-legal purposes. On top of that, building such a car, with such a massive output costs a lot of money.

Of course, Faizal didn’t say exactly how much he invested in it but from the looks of things, it wasn’t cheap. He’s also an engineer and claims that whenever possible, he’d build some parts himself, saving some cash in the process.

In the end, he probably owns one of the fastest GTRs in New Zealand and, possibly the world. So why would we say testing such a car is dangerous? Because it convinced Matt to get his own and could lead to bankruptcy in the future!
