Most likely, not a single day passes without a video of some street hooligans uploading a video on social media websites showing how "cool" they are wheeling on a busy highway. Some of these fellows even take stupid falls, and it's not that seldom when injuries occur exactly because they're doing the wrong thing in the wrong place.
Now, how's some real men on old motorcycles showing what stunt riding is, instead of some half-wits wheeling down the road? Looking at these photos of the Royal Signals Motorcycle Display Team, also known as the White Helmets, a name they adopted in 1963.
Today, the 30-strong team is still using the Meriden-built 750cc Millennium TR7V Tiger bikes Triumph supplied in the mid-'70s. Whether this is a part of keeping the British riding tradition alive or a statement as to the reliability and endurance of the old Triumph motorcycles is yet unclear.
What is certain though, is that these brave men are not putting anyone in danger, save for themselves, maybe. Plus, their riding is truly on par with what we get to see from the masters of freestyle stunt themselves. Now go watch some highway wheelies and try to compare them with what the White Helmets do. Yes, we laughed our faces off, too.
Originally, the White Helmets used to offer motorcycle and horseriding demonstrations
The history of the White Helmets starts back in 1927 in a British Army Signal Training Centre in Yorkshire, where employed and despatch riders used to hang out and prepare routines that would later be shown to the public.Today, the 30-strong team is still using the Meriden-built 750cc Millennium TR7V Tiger bikes Triumph supplied in the mid-'70s.
