It was the same watch show in Switzerland two years ago when Ferrari unveiled their new Scuderia Ferrari Orologi brand, a branch that “brings the unparalleled excitement and unmistakable style of the revered racing team to dedicated fans and watch enthusiasts around the world”. It’s no wonder the Italians chose the same place to tease fans with their new quartz-powered families due to hit the retail fast track this Fall/Winter 2015.
The kind folks over at Scuderia Ferrari Orologi were nice enough to share with us some details about what their new collection of watches will contain and since we like to believe sharing is caring, we figured we’d tell you about them. The Fall/Winter 2015 collection unveils a bold, sporty evolution of its already elegant, retro-inspired Formula Italia family. A new limited edition Gran Premio Worldtime Automatic and fresh graphics and race car-inspired details define the new collection.
Since we’re not planning to detail the entire collection, we’ll just hand out the headlines and you can always complete the intel with the press kit we listed below. Branded as RedRev, the new trademark texture under which the collection was designed, captures details from the race day with a honeycomb texture inspired by the layered structure of a race car’s monocoque. Both the dial and the sides of the case, as well as the bi-level silicone straps are all defined by it.
According to the source, the round 44mm and 38mm cases sport a new contrasting polished finish reminiscent of a Ferrari dashboard, while the black ion-plated crown features an etched Prancing Horse. The multi-level mate dials sport a brightly colored rev counter accent between 12 and 3 o’clock while the grooves on the strap are inspired by the air intakes on a race car. These models come in two forms, the RedRev T and RedRev Evo.
Ferrari is also refreshing the Formula Italia collection adding an S to the previous one, which is bringing “a more contemporary, technical edge to this now full production heritage-inspired sport watch line”. This new line will also include a pinnacle piece - designed and made in Italy and issued in a 1000-unit limited edition.
