It's funny how the least attractive cars usually have the best marking campaigns. In fact, with ads, small Fiats or Citroens probably wouldn't sell at all! In any case, we're here to talk bout the brand new 2015 Suzuki Vitara, the first commercial for which has just been released.
It shows how a whole city is eagerly awaiting the arrival of a brightly colored herd of orange and blue Vitaras. Men paint their faces just like they would for a football match and confetti flies over the streets which are lined with fans. It's like a mix between the World Cup, the Pamplona Bull Run and Tour de France.
Recently, Japanese manufacturer Suzuki introduced a new Vitara model. It lost the "Grand" part from the beginning of its name and actually has very little in common with its predecessors. The model is reportedly underpinned by a shorter version of the SX4 platform. From bumper to bumper, the 2015 Vitara is 125mm less long than its crossover cousin but sits a little higher off the ground (185mm).
That last figure gives you an idea of the difference between an SX4 and a Vitara, which has always been known for its off-road capabilities.
Two engines are going to be available, one petrol and one diesel. The first of the two makes 120 HP and 156 Nm (115 lb-ft). The diesel model uses the same 1.6-liter displacement and also produces 120 HP, though at 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) torque is more than double.
Like with the Renault Captur, customers can choose between several body and roof color combinations. Side moldings and door mirrors can also be configured in a contrasting color. High-spec models have colored low-beam projectors that at certain angles remind you of the Evoque, while the clamshell hood seem similar to the Mk3 Range Rover.
