Here's one more retro bike stolen in England, also belonging to a senior. An 83-year-old Hambleton, Lancashire resident thought he would finally sell his 1971 Bridgestone 90 Sport but was left "extremely shocked and upset" as the four men who allegedly wanted to buy the bike drove off without paying, the Blackpool police say.
The thieves tricked the old man into believing they will buy his motorcycle, alongside a butcher's bicycle and a chicken pen. As weird as the shopping list may seem, it appears like the thieves faked their interest in the other two items to add credibility.
However, after loading the items into a van, the four simply drove away without paying the seller. They had initially settled for the sum of £1,675 ($2,575 or €2,360) for the three items, but ended up with no money changing hands.
If anyone has info on the bike, they can call the police on 01253 604355 or they can call 101 quoting crime reference number WD1502273. Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org. "No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court," PC Victoria Reed of Blackpool Police said.
