Whether you think of vintage trucks villains would use in car theft games like GTA or it sends you in Johnny Depp’s Public Enemies world, Chevrolet’s old school trucks have something special. Sure, there’s the utility look, but there’s also something rather bold and quite American about it that any petrolhead should enjoy.
The Chevrolet Camper in question represents the start of a new age in the company’s car making. The Viking is part of the Chevrolet Task Force, the successor of the Advance Design trucks, and a model that ran from late 1955 through 1959. Also called the Blue Chip Series at GMC locations, the 1955 second series offered standard options and further add-ons such as 12-volt electrical systems and the first V8.

The Chevrolet Viking was what they called the 1958 medium-duty trucks. The name clearly points at what these vehicles were used at. But this car enthusiast found the power to see further than that and turned an extended off-road slumber in a field into a road trip vehicle. The car was found in 2009 in a decrepit stage and restored completely by Winkelman Architecture.

Designed for safety travel 12 passenger, it converts to guest quarters for two as tow single beds or joined in the center as a double. According to the company, the vehicle is complete with plumbing (toilet and sink) and power (12V).

The utility of the restoration is one factor we like, but the interior design is true eye candy for any old-school autos nostalgic. Created by Vince Moulton Interiors, it integrates features such as vintage lighting, furniture, linens and drapes, just like an old-school RV. If all these didn’t impress you, we’re quite sure the rear sort-of porch you can sit on and admire the surroundings will.
