"Tonight I am going to Oktoberfest, Hans races a man that uses a pumpkin as a kayak, and Brunhilda drives an eighteen-wheeler full of Jagermeister on the Autobahn!" Ladies and gentlemen, please contain your excitement (or laughter) because Top Gear Germany will arrive in 2016 according to insider intel acquired by DWDL.de. Are you surprised?
We sure are. Since Jeremy Clarkson and Andy Wilman turned around the Top Gear TV show in 2002 with a world-renowned format, the BBC licensed many other Top Gear shows tailored for various markets. At the present moment, we have Top Gear United States, Australia, Russia, China, South Korea, and - I swear this isn't a joke, Top Gear France. From 2016, Germany will have its own Top Gear show on TV, and it will be a little bit uncommon to say the least.

German publication DWDL.de reports that broadcasting company RTL will adapt the hit TV show with the help of an outfit called Tower Productions. Albeit not much is known about the finished product at the present moment, the publication tells that the first episode of Top Gear Germany will air next year and, get this, there will be a German Stig. If that's not enough to make you chuckle, then how about a presenter lineup consisting of two hosts? A man and a woman are expected to present the local show, and no, we don't know if Sabine Schmitz of Nurburgring fame and ex-F1 driver Niki Lauda fit the bill.

Considering that Germany already has automotive strongholds such as Motorvision TV, DMAX, and RTL Nitro, it seems like Top Gear Germany will fit like a glove in this ecosystem if it can replicate the humorous side of Top Gear UK. It's somewhat depressing that while Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May have been dropped from Top Gear UK, the motoring franchise keeps on going based on global appreciation for the three amigos. After all, Top Gear UK is broadcast in more than 200 countries worldwide, which is speaking volumes about the appeal of the trio that used to present Top Gear.

It's even more perplexing when you consider that Top Gear Series 11 saw England and Germany go head to head in an epic automotive battle. The double-decker car racing segment is laughing out loud entertaining and, with Top Gear Germany knocking at the door, it's mandatory that we remind ourselves who was victorious in the Top Gear vs. The Germans special. Be careful on who you place your bets and faith in!
