Toyota has released a teaser image of what we can only presume to be the all-new Tacoma TRD Pro. The vehicle in question will debut a few days from now at the Chicago Auto Show, and we'll keep an eye out for more details.
Last year, Toyota introduced a new 2016 Tacoma pickup truck. However, the TRD Pro sports version didn't get another model year.

Judging from the hood scoop and the grille we see in the photo, it's hard to imagine our mystery car being anything other than the 2016 or 2017 model year Tacoma TRD Pro.

As you all know, the 2015 TRD Pro model came with everything except a better engine. As standard, the vehicle had a 4.0-liter V6 capable of producing only 236 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. Even if they don't throw in a supercharger kit, we can guarantee that the all-new sports truck will be more powerful. Any standard 2016 Tacoma comes with the latest 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 278 horsepower. Maybe the guys at Toyota Racing Division can figure out how to squeeze a few extra ponies.

Fuel consumption may also go down slightly. Improving fuel efficiency by 20% while gaining 42 horsepower is really rare in the auto industry today. However, the people who buy one of these $40,000 small trucks are after fun. As a reminder, the old 2015 model came with numerous upgrades, including Bilstein shocks, 16-inch beadlock rims wrapped in BF Goodrich all-terrain tires and a cat-back exhaust.

The all-new Tacoma has a lot of nice features that weren't available a year before. For example, the all-new 6-speed automatic transmission is smoother and faster. The touchscreen display is similar to what Toyota has been putting into the Sienna and Camry recently, featuring more vivid colors and superior connectivity. For the first time on a Toyota truck, you also get keyless entry and start, which is very car-like.

To finish things off, we're going to see integrated turn signal indicators, new paint, projector headlights and LED accents.
