You know what they say, macho doesn’t impress mucho but when it comes to Toyota, you really don’t know what to expect whenever they decide to launch a new special edition as their choices of upgrading a model’s performance are at least confusing.
In that respect, meet the facelifted Toyota Camry 2.0G Extremo, a car that made an appearance in Bangkok next to the limited edition Corolla ESport Nurburgring Edition and will slot under the Camry 2.5G. Nothing out of the ordinary until now, but hear this out: Toyota decided to leave Corolla Esport’s performance untouched but decided the Camry Extremo could use a power upgrade.

So they took the four-cylinder 2.0-liter wallflower engine and gave it a power boost of 20 HP and 9 Nm (7 lb-ft) but let’s be clear, there’s nothing extreme about that, unless you’re a turtle or a snail. So, the Camry Extremo is now good for 169 HP and 199 Nm (147 lb-ft) and clients will be able to get the best out of these specs with the help of a new 6-speed automatic gearbox. However, the car was also given a fresh face.

Toyota calls it aggressive, but that’s not the case although the new body kit is doing its best to look as angry as possible. Take the large trapezoidal grille for example, coupled with the side air intakes and those dual exhaust pipes.

The cabin was fitted with ventilated front seats and three-zone air conditioning system and other ‘gadgets’ like adaptive cruise control and a Qi Wireless charging station for your smartphone, but only several types of intelligent phones are supported by the feature.
