If the Japanese like anything, they obsess over it to the point where it takes the form of a ritual. It happened with tea, eating fish and the Nissan GT-R. Even the frugal Prius has become the target of their attention, so why not the GT 86?
This one was presented at the Tokyo Auto Salon of 2014 and is the twin brother of the Kuhl Nissan GT-R we showed you yesterday. It too features an engraved metal finish that will make your jaw drop faster than you can say "Toyobaru".
Everywhere you look, the Toyota coupe is covered in zig-zagging lines that catch the light. A body shop called Artis Izawa took care of the paintjob, which has more in common with metal engraving than with anything else.
The Artis artisans use thin duct tape like the one for pin striping to give the silver paintjob a 3D effect. It probably took over 100 hours to lay down every detail on what used to be a very cheap sportscar. Positive messages like "It's OK to make mistakes" were also printed out and placed on the car.
However, that's not all. Kuhl Racing has its name on the car, and this body kit specialists couldn't let the Toyobaru walk away without a special set of bumpers. Extra-large air intakes, spoilers and even a swan neck wing have been added here.
Not yet impressed? How about if we tell you that this GT 86 is among a rare breed that's equipped with a Blitz turbine kit, wider exhaust piping and four imposing muffler.
