When we usually hear about replicas, we automatically think about odd-looking copies of supercars, usually made in China with wrong wheelbases, dubious proportions and gaping panels. However, from time to time a spotless one surfaces which could actually fool someone into thinking it is the real deal.
Which is the case with this Lamborghini Miura replica showcased at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2015, an event which gathers famous tuners and their work under one roof in Makuhari Messe.
According to the video description, this green beauty is built on the outgoing generation Mazda MX-5 (Miata). Yes, this means the engine is not a V12 and it’s not transversely mid-mounted. The rear hood only opens up to reveal a fake V12 mockup an some luggage space I think, but that doesn’t matter, because the rest of the replica is spot on.
They even got the wheels right and the interior looks rather sorted out with real leather and a matching dashboard. There are some strange materials used there and some gaps but even so, the craftsmen who did this earn our respect.
Last time we saw such a great replica was last year, with a Top Gear fan building his own McLaren F1 supercar from scrap, spending around £20,000 (€25,500/$30,200). It was built on a tubular space-frame chassis, had pushrod suspension, a powerful engine and the three-seat configuration.
