He might be in his 40s but with a 77 million albums and singles sold worldwide Robbie Williams is doing pretty good so far. Moreover, as opposed to all the drinking and partying controversies that defined his lifestyle until recently, the famous artist has been rather a familist for the last two years. Maybe this is why Volkswagen has picked him.
Since Robbie Williams has been relying on the Germans’ Multivan model for his tours, it wouldn’t be that much of a surprise for Volkswagen to choose him for an official collaboration. However, it’s not quite clear what this new partnership is about since all we got from the automaker is a simple video tease.

Volkswagen Germany was kind enough to share the video on their official Facebook account quoting “Ready for a big surprise? Then visit our Facebook account and check out most of the TV channels on December 23 at 19:58”. The message sounds rather like a future advertorial announcement auto makers usually do, which means we’re about to see more of the singer’s face on TV.

Recruiting him is quite a big deal considering we’re talking about one of the biggest pop artists in the world. Six of Williams’ albums are among the top 100 biggest-selling ones in the United Kingdom. In 2006, he set the Guinness World Records for selling 1.6 million tickets of his Close Encounters Tour in a single day. He was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame after being voted as the “Greatest Artist of the 1990s”. And the list could go on for some time.

Point is, any big car maker out there would want to have Williams representing their company and since he’s such a devoted customer of the brand things start to make sense. We obviously can’t tell for sure until the official announcement is done, but that is most likely what’s going to happen.
