Inspired by one of the world’s most grueling nautical adventures, Volvo Cars North America is going to offer the XC60 in Ocean Race clothing. To be unveiled on November 7th in the Magic City, this special edition XC60 is laden with unique visual touches.
On any given day, the Swedish compact executive crossover SUV is Volvo’s best-selling car since 2009. With the Ocean Race, that might’ve been the case as well if it were a limited-run. But its not limited, so you won’t miss out on buying one even if it will certainly sell like hot cakes... or Swedish meatballs.

Priced at $42,100 for the front-wheel drive variant and $43,600 for the all-wheel drive, the Volvo Ocean Race XC60 is adorned with inscribed tread plates, emblems on the front fenders and decorative inlay. On the inside there’s black or blonde leather with orange stitching, a special start-up logo for the Sensus infotainment system, as well as floor mats with orange stitching and Volvo Ocean Race rubber tags.

Volvo says it “pays tribute to the courageous men and women racing across the oceans”

Although it’s hard to understand what the Swedes are on about, the special visual add-ons and marketing jibber-jabber both pale when compared to the sub-zero cool Ocean Blue II exterior finish. As for the finishing touch, the package is rounded off nicely by exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels.

As a brief reminder, the Drive-E T6 mill is a four-cylinder gasoline-fed unit that’s turbocharged and supercharged. Alas, the 2-liter powerplant offers 302 ponies and 295 lb-ft of twist. Mated to the eight-speed Geartronic automatic transmission, the front-wheel drive Volvo XC60 T6 returns 30 mpg highway.
