Volvos have always been about strapping on a set of bikes or snowboards to the roof and going for a weekend adventure. However, there's now a model that's even better at dealing with mother nature's rough, hilly side. It's called the V60 Cross Country and targets the growing customer demand for station wagons with high ground clearance. Watch out Subaru, the Norseman are coming!
The allroad capabilities of this car demanded something special to be made for its video debut. So Volvo organized a race between the V60 CC and ultra runner Anton Krupicka, mountain biker Tom Oehler and paragliding pilot Jean-Baptise Chandelier.

The clip shows stunning untouched landscapes that would get any Volvo owner craving for a summer adventure. Throughout it, Volvo showcases some of the features that justify the Cross Country badge. Taking on Aneto, the highest mountain in the Pyrenees, is no easy task. But hidden under that brown body, the V60 boasts an extra 2.6 inches (65 mm) of ride height, front & rear skid plates and traction control systems tuned for rough conditions.

The first models arrive in North America next year and will be offered exclusively with a 5-cylinder 250 horsepower turbo engine and all-wheel drive, providing all-weather capabilities. The model also gets special 18- or 19 inch wheels, hill descent control and standard navigation.

Of course, other markets will get smaller engines as well, mainly coming from the Drive-E 2-liter family. The V60 Cross Country has a lot of rivals, but Volvo has been doing this for a very long time and we're confident they found the sweet spot between the V60 wagon and the XC60 SUV.
