Watch a BMW S1000RR Evading a Renault Megane RS at the Nordschleife

Straight-line runs indeed seem to favor superbikes when it comes to showdowns with sport cars, but when on a track as demanding as the Nordschleife, things can be a bit different. Lapping around the Nurburgring doesn't allow 1,000+ hp cars to show their potential to the full extent, as only a fraction of the power is usable in these turns.
On the other hand, the two extra wheels of a car will add stability and confidence in slower turns, one of the weak points of any motorcycle. We can clearly observe how the RS driver closes in to the S1000RR at certain points, and, had the track been wider, we might even have seen him pass the bike.

The straights of the "Green Hell" favor the BMW S1000RR

Still, as close to the bike as the Megane RS driver gets, there is nothing he can do when exiting the turns. The S1000RR simply shoots forward to the point where it becomes hard to see on a longer straight.

This video is a great testimony of how viciously the S1000RR accelerates, and complements what we saw earlier when a Beemer performed very nicely against the supercharged Kawasaki Ninja H2.

It looks like the Megane RS driver really could not do anything than chase the BMW, or at least this is what we get from the undissimulated enthusiasm in his voice as he congratulates the rider and adds he'd send him the video.

Honestly, this video is action-packed and so great no matter who got the upper hand in the race. We're only showing it to you for what it is, without offering a reason to start bashing either vehicle. To us, they were on par, especially on a crazy track such as the Nordschleife.
