It’s pretty obvious that the new X5 M and X6 M cars are out for blood. After the Nordschleife fiasco, with a particular publication quoting a lap time of 8 minutes and 20 seconds despite facing severe speed limits, more and more people out there are testing the new M SUVs.
One of the most recent examples involves none other than Gustav from GT Board that had a 2015 BMW F85 X5 M for a couple of days to test out and he made sure to go through every possible setting and option on the car.

That, of course, means the launch control feature had to be tested out as well. Watching how the car reacts and accelerates is important this time because of some reasons.

First of all, this is a brand new version of the 4.4-liter V8 S63 twin-turbo engine. It makes more power than ever, taking things up to 575 HP and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. You might say that is just a small increase over what the old model used to have, at 555 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. However, this plant is relevant because it will make its way under the bonnet of the new M5 and M6 models with possibly 600 HP.

Second of all, we get to see the new transmission at work along with the all-wheel drive system. That’s because the old 6-speed unit was replaced with a new 8-speed Steptronic one and the xDrive system was also worked on.

Why is this important? Because, once again, this is probably the same combination we’ll be getting on the new M5 and M6 that will have the option of being fitted with all-wheel drive in the future.

So, that being said, let’s watch this 2.2-ton SUV take off, to get a slight idea of how the future M5 will accelerate, considering that, rumors have it, it will shed around 150-200 kilos (330 - 441 lbs) of weight.
