In case you weren’t already aware of the global tuning world’s fasciantion for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, you’ll be in for quite a surprise. We are, of course, talking about the SRT stuff, with Europe having recently crowned its Jeept Grand Cherokee SRT8 king.
Stage 5 of the Russian Drag Racing Championship, which was held in Crimea, saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 pull a 9-second quarter mile. To be more precise, the SUV covered the 402 meters in 9.61s at 234 km/h (145.4 mph).
What does this mean?
This not only makes it the quickest Grand Cherokee SRT8 in Europe, but also the 4th fastest in the world. The feat was mostly possible thanks to a pair of turbines strapped to the 6.4 liters of Hemi under the hood.
As you can imagine, a ton of supporting mods were installed. After all, the output was taking to a sweet 1,300 hp. As for what the driver says, you have his words in the image above, but we’re not quite sure what he meant. Anyway, he was more than happy once he got the results.
There’s one question that remains to be answered here and that targets the exact model used for when listing these records. As you know, Jeep has moved on, introducing a major revamp for the SUV, with the go-fast version now being dubbed Grand Cherokee SRT. We’re not sure whether the statistics also include the new model and yet this remains one impressive run.
