Willys AW 380 Berlinetta is a Neo-Retro Alpine A110 Look-Alike

Remember the Renault-powered Alpine A110 of the 1960s? The Michelotti-designed machine is revered as one of the greatest classic cars ever made, which makes us wonder who in their right mind would pay €380,000 for a modern, 21st century copycat?

No really! A good condition A110 can be found in the classifieds for around €60,000 ($74,275), while this contraption we’ll talk about today goes for a sizable €380,000 ($470,400 at current exchange rates). It’s called the Willys AW 380 Berlinetta and its creators are adamant it’s the heritor of the Willys Interlagos.

What’s that? Well, the Willys Interlagos was the first sportscar produced in Brazil and it’s basically a very cheap version of the Alpine Renault A108. Want to get things even more freaky than they already are? The Willys AW 380 Berlinetta is made by two Italian companies - Maggiora and Carrozzeria Viotti.

Fusion cooking is great, but fusion car making... just eww

Nevertheless, that 380 in its name has something to do with its ridiculous pricing, not the grunt of the 3.8-liter bi-turbo V6 powerhouse that motivates its rear axle. Speaking of the oily bits, the Willys AW 380 is boasting with 610 horsepower and 830 Nm (610 lb-ft) of torque, which is huge oomph for a 1,350-kilo (2,976 lbs) sportscar made from lots of carbon fiber, with 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) coming in 2.5 seconds.

Maggiora and Carrozzeria Viotti presented the Alpine rip-off today at the Bologna Motor Show, announcing that only 110 examples will ever be made. According to the relatively unknown Maggiora, one Willys AW 380 Berlinetta has been already spoken for. Before you’re tempted into dropping a deposit on one, think about this: is it worth the price of three Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet?
