There’s a video going around online these days showing you a body kit done by a Bulgarian company that can transform your older BMW E39 5 Series into the current F10 5er. While the transformation is not perfect in the first place, would you really consider such a move?
The thing is, the E39 5 Series is one of those cars that has a classic design that will most likely be still looking good over the next 10 years while the F10 model doesn’t hold that same guarantee.
However, if you do prefer this look (to each his own), you should know a couple of things first. The body kit can be made of materials of your own choice. The options include fiberglass, carbon fiber, ABC polypropylene or even metal (aluminum to keep the weight in check).
According to the company, all parts have been tested and are complying with TUV and DEKRA standards of quality. They can be installed either simply by screwing, specialized bonding, with plastic welds or color welds.
The best news is that you can just buy the kit and install it yourself or just leave your car with the shop and they can do everything for you. Heck, if you want, they can actually buy a second hand E39, transform it and then deliver it to your house. That’s the most expensive method.
The cheapest way to go would cost you around $3,000 and that’s just for the kit (without headlights and paint), then there’s the option of having the kit, installation and paint, without the headlights and you’ll go up to $4,200 and for $6,000, the shop will completely transform your ride.
If you don’t own an E39 already, you’ll have to pay between $9,800 and $13,8000 for a complete car, with the kit installed. The price varies because it includes the cost of the donor car that depends on a lot of factors.
Now that we told you the prices, would you even consider such a ‘facelift’? We definitely wouldn’t but hey, there are people out there for whom packaging matters more than essence.
