Even though 200 horsepower may seem more than enough to most riders who decide to go superbike, you'll be surprised to know that most of them won't say no if they can have some extra nerve if the price is right.
One of the best things about the new Termignoni exhaust elements is that they are manufactured using the same materials as those Termignoni Reparto Corse is using for building silencers that are used in MotoGP and other top-level racing series.

Yamaha R1 customers are being offered a carbon fiber slip-on can, and a titanium one, with the latter also available in a version without a catalytic converter, which is most likely the first option for the race track.

Dropping the catalyzer reduces weight and increases the power

Helping reduce the emissions of an engine, the catalytic converter is, however, a bulky part many riders could do well without. Certain exhaust manufacturers manage to deliver cans without a catalytic converter that are still road-legal.

Termignoni uses their cuNb titanium alloy for manufacturing these cans. The alloy, which is the same used for crafting racing exhausts, has very good ambient temperature formability and excellent strength. The strength of this lightweight material is retained even above 600 degrees Celsius (112 F), while the sleeves will resist oxidation even above 800 Celsius (1472 F).

The no-catalyzer version reduces the weight of the system significantly and allows the engine to produce 4 extra horsepower. This means that the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 will make 204 hp at 13,500 rpm, and with the weight reduction, it will become a nimbler bike.

You can have the Termignoni in carbon or titanium for $782, with the non-catalytic version available for $583, both being US prices.
