What’s cooler than BMW’s amazing S85 5-liter V10 engine? Certainly not a Subaru WRX and yet for the kind of money this man is asking for his M6 you could get that Japanese car with its 2-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder under the bonnet.
‘It can’t be!’, you might say and, at first, we were rather reluctant too but a little research showed that you can get a 2006 BMW E63 M6 for $27,000, today! That means that you’ll get a hell whole lot more car than a Subaru WRX for example, that’s priced at $26,295 in the States.

How is this possible?

Well, for starters, you have to consider all the costs. According to the ad posted on eBay, the seller claims that his car is in “extremely good condition” and the photos seem to confirm his side of the story.

The ad also includes words like “rare”, “near perfect” and “unmodified” but that won’t comfort you when the transmission fails or your instrument cluster starts lighting up like a Christmas tree.

However, the S85 engines developed with Formula 1 technology are a peach if taken care of properly. Usually, owners have complained about all sorts of electronics failing but nothing mechanical.

At the same time, the 7-speed gearbox will take care of you if you take care of it. It will stick your brain to the back of your skull on more than one occasions but that’s needed when you’re going after the best lap times.

Around town, the car actually only uses 400 HP as it doesn’t need to have all 500 ponies working overtime. Press the M button though and you’ll get the ride of your life and an unforgettable sound.

The car looks good, why is he selling it?

If all the ad says is true, then it makes no sense to sell this car, right? At least not with this price tag, anyway. Well, that’s true but, as the seller says, he needs a more practical car and, as fast and mean-looking this M6 is, you can hardly call it a family car.

Furthermore, the thing is, the E63/E64 have been drawn by Chris Bangle and they do have that specific look that might not appeal to anyone. Even so, we think it’s a bargain at this price point.

Any additional info?

The Bimmer now has 69,000 miles on the clock (112,000 km) and has never been tracked. Furthermore, the seller is offering to test it in any way an interested customer would want but the people who just want a ride in it should keep to themselves:

You won't be getting a test ride without some proof you can afford this car.

That seems only reasonable if you ask us.
