People will try to make a quick buck off of everything. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen various … entities … attempting to capitalize on the back of Top Gear. This time, though, we’re talking about a VelociRaptor and not an M3.
If you’re a fan of the famous trio, then you already know that during their last season on the BBC they used two American trucks to try and save Richard that was pretending to be lost and isolated somewhere in Canada.
While James May went for a Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, Jeremy Clarkson, the one guy in the world known for his addiction to one word (“POWER”) went for something a bit more radical: a Hennessey VelociRaport F-150.
James’s car can be considered an average truck whereas Clarkson’s is nowhere near that status. His Ford F-150 was thoroughly modified. There was a 2.9-liter supercharger under the bonnet followed by new injectors, an air-to-water intercooler, a new air intake and exhaust, all the other parts being sent in there to make sure the engine keep up with the supercharger.
Overall, the output went up to 623 horsepower, an astonishing number that allows this truck (and a big one by the way) to do some unusual things like reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 5.2 seconds and do a ¼ mile run in 13.6 seconds.
Well, if you are interested in such a car and are willing to pay a hefty extra just because it looked awesome while driven by Clarkson, you might also want to know that you can get one right now for no less than $150,000. Is it all worth it?
