We all know just how shocking the Chinese automotive industry ways’ can be sometimes and yet nothing can prepare you from meeting a car like the Zotye E30 in the flesh on the Shanghai floor.
Imagine a smart-like city with an interior that has “Tesla Model S rip-off” written all over it. In fact, all you have to do in order to receive a sample of this urban mobility oddity is to check out the image gallery below.

BMW chassis code naming aside, the E30 looks like a rather modern proposal, which we are pretty sure it is not. That’s because we’ve seen a similar vehicle being released by Dongfeng back in 2011 - at least the overall proportions and the center console are very close to the DongFend EJ02 EV.

When these Chinese contraptions start resembling each other, it’s no wonder smart isn’t bothered about that faux Tridion Cell being showcased here.

As for the stuff that was taken from Tesla, the dash is a miniature copycat of what you get in a Model S. We can only imagine how the touchscreen interface works. We must also mention the acres of faux carbon fiber on the dash.

When it comes to the tech details, the Zotye E30 measures 2,798 mm (110 inches) in length, 1,563 mm (61.5 inches) in width and is 1,572 mm (62 inches) tall.

The vehicle tips the scales at 960 kg (2,115 lbs), while being powered by an electric motor that delivers 18 kW (25 hp) and 83 Nm (61 lb-ft) of torque. A 17.6 kWh battery pack promises to provide a driving range of 150 km (93 miles) and a top speed of 80 KM/H (50 MPH).

Those LED daytime running lights are one attention grabber, as we noticed at the Chinese event. Alas, some things can never be unseen.
