1957 Chevrolet Wagon Turned Rat Rod Makes an Amazing Santa Sled, Turns Heads

When talking rat rod stuff, a 1957 Chevy Wagon isn’t exactly the first thing that comes to mind. Nonetheless, this is exactly what we are dealing with here and it’s all a superb piece of rusty metal.

In case you’re looking at this piece of America and thinking “hmm... this is one hell of a ride,” you should know you’re not alone. Many others have already drawn this conclusion and the applauding audience can be split in two categories.

First of all, we have to mention the praise has already gone official, as this Chevy has received the 2013 Rat Rod Build Off trophy. Then there are the people on the street - this rat rot certainly turns a lot of heads.

The footage below shows us the thing being taken for a ride in the busy Holiday traffic, including a spicy police car moment, even though that is not what you think. In fact, the only issue here seems to be the fact that the owner treats the throttle as if a group of kittens were sleeping underneath it.

The car itself

What this means is that the Chevy small block up front never appears to get to stretch its pistons properly. By the way, this is a Yeoman Racing Engines V8 with 355 cubic inches (5.8 liters) of displacement providing a sweet aural experience.

In case you’re wondering what supports that rusty, chopped body, the Chevy hides a custom frame built by ITW Hot Rods.

PS: yes, we know, the owner wearing a Santa hat doesn't make this a sleigh, but the idea keeps us daydreaming.
