We're well aware of Australia's love for all things GT-R, but we didn't know aficionados from Down Under were also crazy about puzzles. We've now changed our views and it's all thanks to the complex build in the video below.
Coming from Aussie show MotiveDVD, this GT-R mashup sees an R34 being animated by an R35 heart. However, since the crew wanted the builders across the country to relate to their project, they couldn't go fo a custom-everything CAD-designed approach and call it a day.
Instead, the guys ended up with a GT-R jigsaw puzzle, one that covers the entire powertrain. R35 and R35 bits met R32 pieces, while fabricated hardware made sure everything fits.
The melange also includes an Albins sequential racing gearbox that works with a custom twin-plate clutch. And since Godzilla's VR38DETT heart isn't supplied with a flywheel, a billet build was required.
Working outside the powertrain, the team chose 19-inch wheels and thus could decide on the brakes they wanted to install. In the end, the machine was gifted with a massive setup that, for instance, involves 8-piston 385 mm slotted and drilled rotors up front.
This is the kind of project car that, once completed, will be used for all sorts of racing. From track attacks to airstrip-hosted top speed runs, the GT-R mix will have to deliver the required return on investment.
Yes, we said investment, as we're dealing with a multi-episode build series. So far, the team has released three episodes and you can find all of them below. The project kicked off about two months ago, and given the rich possibilities such a car offers once it reaches track-ready condition, we don't expect things to end soon.
Caution: watching such piece of footage might make you call your financial adviser with the aim of following a similar path. Which wouldn't be half bad.
