The jaw-dropping Dodge Viper is now at its fifth generation and, as you may find in our review of the V10 bruiser, more mature than its forerunners. On a side note, there’s one feature most of us thoroughly miss: the magical pop-top targa roof of the Gen I to Gen IV Vipers. That’s not the case anymore though.
Prefix Performance of Michigan comes to the rescue. From the creators of the fifth-generation Dodge Viper convertible package ($35,000) now comes a $9,995 targa conversion for the all-American snake. Prefix’s Gen 5 Viper targa package is exactly what the name leads you to believe.
After you pay up a $1,000 deposit to schedule your 2013 to 2016 Dodge Viper for conversion, Prefix is going to install a body-color carbon fiber roof panel. A nice feature to the removable targa top is that the roof panel stores conveniently in the Dodge Viper’s trunk.
If Michigan is a little too far from you, you’ll be happy to find out that the Gen 5 Viper targa conversion from Prefix Performance is available directly through any Viper dealer in the United States. As you would expect, the company’s package also applies to used Gen 5 Dodge Viper SRT models.
“We sincerely enjoy the friendships we have within the Viper community and appreciate hearing input directly from car owners and Viper Association members from around the globe,” declared Eric Zeile, the president of Prefix Performance. “After we released the Medusa convertible version of the Viper last summer, we received many inquiries as to whether we would create a targa; it was a natural evolution.” Who can argue with that?
