The current generation of Audi R8 is on its last legs, being expected to be replaced by a successor as early as next year. In return for its loyal service, many owners are still still lavishing attention onto what's undoubtedly one of the most interesting car ever to wear a four-ring badge.
Over in Dubai, that attention means adding the latest Armytrix F1 Valvetronic exhaust system onto a brand new 2014 example of the R8, with its sexy updated taillights.
With tens of car fans pointing their cameras and mobile phones at it, the owner of the tricked out R8 decide to do a very long session of flame spitting. The first video we found is almost exactly two minutes long and very clearly shows how the whole exhaust system glows a very bright red color behind the bumper. Rumor has it that in order to get supercars to spit flames, you have to get the exhaust heated up.
Because Youtuber Paul Wallace from Supercars of London has the exact same exhaust system on his older model of R8, we know the Armytrix F1 is made using titanium components and costs a whopping £6,000 to buy and fit. It's definitely not for everybody, but the sound it lets out is spectacular.
It's videos like this that remind us why naturally aspirated, free-revving V8 and V10 engines are cool, why downsizing isn't always such a great thing. That's something we'll likely keep saying right up until the moment when the new R8 is revealed.
