When it comes to the seventh generation of the Corvette breed, General Motors pushed the envelope in every imaginable way. It’s a far cry compared to the C6 generation of the breed, but the goodies aren’t limited to the normal 2015 Chevrolet Corvette.
The Z06-ified C7 Corvette Stingray is a beast of a sportscar. Remember the ZR1? We don’t know how to soften the blow for ZR1 fans, but the 2015 Corvette Z06 nukes it thanks to a 6.2 small-block LT4 V8 that’s been supercharged for all the right reasons.
Thanks to 650 horsepower and a helluva lot of torque (650 lb-ft / 861 Nm), the Z06 is able to get to 60 mph (96km/h) in 2.9 clicks. That’s ballistic, but be aware that it’s possible only if you opt for the 8L90 eight-speed auto and Z07 Performance Pack.
With US pricing starting at $78,995 for the coupe and $83,995 for the convertible, it’s not that big of a surprise how the price increases by the time the Z06 reaches Europe. As it happens, the 2015 Corvette Z06 is a whopping €99,500 ($124,200) in coupe form and €104,500 ($130,445) for the soft top.
The order books are already open and dealers announce that first deliveries will be made this spring, but consider some things before putting a deposit on one. You’ll have to pay €16,500 ($20,500) for the Z07 Performance Package and a bit more for the all-new Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic tranny.
The question is, does the Z06 justifiy its price over the €117,900 ($146,500) 911 Carrera S Cabriolet?
