Imagine you’re heading onto Laguna Seca and you notice the sky above opening up, with all the water causing a bit of trouble for your four-wheel-drive Porsche 911. Now imagine the same scenario in a 2015 Corvette Z06.
We know, the latter part sounds a bit risky, well... because it is risky. Unfortunately, you don’t need to pull any imagination exercise, as the proposals above come straight from a real story, one that saw the Z06 going through an extreme crash on the famous track.
The past weekend saw a track day event taking place on Laguna Seca and the Porsche driver witnessed what he calls “the death of a hero”. Unfortunately, it looks like the frame of the car has been affected, which makes the tons of other damage seem rather unimportant. And yes, we are talking about the risk of totalling here.
The driver was reportedly unharmed by the accident, but this is the only positive sentence in this piece of news.
The Porsche guy, who calls himself, NeedMoarGarage, did a full write-up on Opposite Lock, detailing the experience. While we do love the in-depth description, we have to admit we’re a bit surprised by how much of a chaos the water caused and we’re not just talking about the ‘Vette driver here.
In a sad coincidence, the Z06 that got killed on Laguna Seca was dressed in Torch Red, which happens to be the same color as that used by the other seriously-crashed Z06 we talked about this week. You know, the one that hit a tree while trying to accelerate without the electronic nannies turned on.
