At long last, the golden bowtie manufacturer’s diminutive EV will arrive in Maryland too. Formerly sold only in California and Oregon, the Chevrolet Spark EV will hit Maryland showrooms this spring, expanding the mini EV’s influence to the East Coast.
Marketed by Chevrolet as the most efficient electric vehicle available for purchase in the United States, the electrified Spark costs $19,185 (including a tax credit of $7,500) and delivers a combined economy of 119 MPGe. Simply put, that's 82 miles (132 km) of EPA-estimated combined city and highway range.
By the time it reaches Maryland, the 2015 Chevrolet Spark EV will be priced as low as $17,845 after the federal and Maryland tax credits are applied.
As a brief reminder, the five-door 2015 Chevrolet Spark EV is available in 1LT and 2LT grades. Its all-electric motor and drive unit deliver 327 lb-ft (444 Nm) of instant torque, enabling a 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) time of 7.2 seconds. With a full charge within 7 hours and a battery that’s backed by an 8-year limited warranty, this is a fair urban dweller if the Nissan Leaf & co. aren’t to your liking.

Fun fact: the electric motor and drive unit are both locally manufactured at the GM Baltimore Operations assembly complex in White Marsh, Maryland.
Steve Majoros, Chevrolet director of car marketing, declared that “following the introduction of the next-generation Volt and Bolt EV concept, this further reinforces Chevrolet’s commitment to electrification and delivering more choices where our customers want them.” Speaking of supply and demand, the 2015 Chevrolet Spark EV moved a reasonable 1,145 examples in Cali and Oregon last year.As a brief reminder, the five-door 2015 Chevrolet Spark EV is available in 1LT and 2LT grades.
