Before you get upset thinking that you can’t get a lot of things on your new BMW X5 M or X6 M you should know that the lack of optional features has a simple reason behind it: the cars are already available with a lot of equipment, as standard.
Speaking of which we should list some of them here. On the outside, no cost paints includes the traditional Alpine White hue and Carbon Black Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic, Silverstone Metallic, Melbourne Red Metallic, Mineral White but also the two new colors, Long Beach Blue and Donington Grey.
Inside, you can have your choice of Extended Merino Leather in Silverstone, Sonoma Beige or Black, depending on your preference. All of them are available for free. If you want Full Merino leather, however, you’ll have to pay $2,900 more.
Only two packages will be offered, the Driver Assistance Plus Package that costs $1,900 and includes Active Blind Spot Detection, Active Driving Assistant, Side and Top View Cameras and Speed Limit Info or the Executive Package that costs $4,500.
For that kind of money you get a heated steering wheel, soft-close automatic doors, window shades, ventilated and heated seats, adaptive full LED headlights with automatic high beams, head-up display and concierge services.
Other relevant stand alone optionals include Fineline oak wood trims, the Bang & Olufsen sound system ($3,700), rear seat entertainment system (screens incorporated in the backs of the front seats - $1,700) and Night Vision with pedestrian protection ($2,300).
For those looking for the ultimate thrill, we’d also recommend the non run-flat tires available in two guises: 20” wheels with Pirelli PZeros or 21” wheels with Michelin Pilot rubber.
Prices for these cars start at $98,700 for the X5 M and $102,100 for the X6 M without the handling and shipping fee or the tax guzzler tax.
