2015 Ford C-Max Facelift Shows Its New Face at the Paris Motor Show

In al frankness, the Blue Oval's compact multi purpose vehicle wasn't much of a looker in pre-facelift format. Its appearance was penned by practicality, so the wow factor lacked greatly. But with the refreshed C-Max and Grand C-Max, Ford finally made the family hauler more attractive.

Enhanced aesthetics aren't the only asset of the 2015 Ford C-Max and bigger Grand C-Max, with the latter coming with rear sliding doors a la the Ford B-Max. Both family-oriented models are also heavily revised in terms of ergonomics, cabin design and technology, with the addition of a revised lineup of turbo'd mills.

Before we go into further detail, we deem necessary to mention Ford hasn't confirmed if the Euro-spec Ford C-Max updates will be carried over next year by the US-spec C-Max Hybrid and Energi. That being said, let's start with the powerplants: a 2-liter TDCi turbo diesel with either 140 or 163 PS offers adequate levels of torque, while a new 1.5-liter TDCi producing 120 PS and coupled to a six-speed manual is oriented for those that need the frugality.

Is there any petrol-fed mill available?

A 1-liter EcoBoost is also available in two states of tune (100 or 125 PS), with the addition of the recently introduced 1.5-liter EcoBoost petrol (150 or 180 PS). The distinctive trapezoidal grille at the front, chiseled headlamps and sleek, rectangular fog lamps are the main visual changes on the outside, while the cabin boasts with fewer buttons, controls and switches. It's not a bad thing, don't worry about that. The physical of yesteryear was replaced by a touchscreen display.

This 8-inch media screen has been integrated in the redesigned dashboard and can even offer you Wi-Fi connectivity for your mobile phone, tablet, you name it. Sync2 is also onboard, but this being a big family-oriented product, the plethora of cubby holes, airbags and the neat Hands-Free Tailgate are more important on those long journeys to grandma and grandpa.

Furthermore, a suite of active safety features such as Active Park Assist and Perpendicular Parking, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Braking and Active City Stop are available on the 2015 Ford C-Max and Grand C-Max for a more relaxed driving experience. In addition to those advanced driver assistance technologies, the Blue Oval's facelifted compact MPV also boasts with start&stop for improved fuel economy in city traffic.
