2015 Ford F-150 Demand Prompts the Blue Oval to Train Additional Workers

Part of the much-revered F-Series, the 2015 Ford F-150 is the thirteenth-generation of a family that’s been around since 1948. They say strength is in the numbers and the light-duty F-Series complies to that.

Without further beating around the bush, the F-Series celebrates its 38th consecutive year as North America’s best-selling pickup truck. In addition to this, the F-Series also celebrates its 33rd straight year as the best-selling vehicle in North America. Neat, huh?

Despite a little downtime last year, the brand’s Dearborn Truck Plant got back at 100 percent production capacity with the 2015 Ford F-150. Even though FoMoCo sold 753,851 trucks in 2014, it seems like this the assembly plant’s retooling wasn’t enough to keep up with the increasing demand for the F-150.

As a result. the Blue Oval rolled out a training program to prepare its workers for the hardships of working at the Kansas City Assembly Plant, the second most important truck plant Ford operates in the US. More than 400 hours of courses will be poured into every future worker of the Kansas City Assembly Plant.

From installing and configuring new equipment for the production line to constructing a truck’s electrical control system, FoMoCo says that new workers will have been teached all there is to know by the end of March, when Kansas City Assembly is going to start production of the 2015 model year Ford F-150.

“Through this program, we have armed both our skilled trades and production workers with the skills necessary to produce the next generation of vehicle technology,” commented Aris Janitens, Ford launch planning and work force readiness manager.
