The Blue Oval's first all-electric passenger car is returning for the 2015 model year with a bit of a surprise for potential buyers. Slated to arrive in US dealerships by the end of the current week, the new Ford Focus Electric will reportedly come with a $29,995 manufacturer's suggested retail price.
As it happens, LeftLane News was provided with an official document by an unspecified source, according to which the American automaker will drop $6,000 off the starting price of the new Ford Focus Electric. That's a substantial cut, one that was previewed as early as January, 2014 by some voices in the biz.
Furthermore, the previously mentioned source claims that unsold 2014 models still in dealer inventory will also benefit from this $6,000 slash in order to move those cars to customers hands as soon as possible. But that's not even the best thing about it.
2014 vs 2015 model year changes are expected to be minimal, so what does the Ford Focus Electric actually boast with except for its permanent magnet electric motor with 143 electric horsepower?
Well, the most important stats worth mentioning are the 23 kWh Lithium-Ion battery, a neat 110 city MPGe rating, a handy rearview parking camera, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, LED daytime running lights, keyless entry and start, as well as a nine-speaker Sony audio system.
