When you think about the 2015 Ford Mustang a Texan tuner, Hennessey is probably the first name that comes to mind, but that’s all about their 717-pony Hellcat hunter. Like we said, we’re here to talk about much more... civil matters and it all has to do with COBB Tuning.
Yes, COBB tuning, the Texan aftermarket developer that was the first to break into the Nissan GT-R’s ECU at a time when this was believed to be unbreakable? The company has been handling a wide variety of brands over the past 15 years, but they haven’t touched Mustangs. Until now that is - COBB is here with a commercial that brings a bit of a controversial air, demanding some respect for the EcoBoost Mustang.

The ad talks about respect and here’s where things get a little controversial. You might have noticed the V6 versions still doesn’t qualify as a proper Mustang for many, so the turbo-fed four-cylinder EcoBoost isn’t exactly the best version of the car to talk about when mentioning this.

COBB reaches out into this pony’s past and mentions the SVO Mustang - for the very, very young readers, we have to explain this was some sort of a refuge in the 80s, an age that saw the Mustang barely survive the post-oil crisis period. Forget Shelbys and Boss creatures, this 2.3-liter turbocharged 203 hp was the performance ‘Stang you could buy back then.

We’ll leave it up to you to decide whether COBB’s street cred approach is right or wrong.

What COBB offers for the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost

For the moment, the tuner is testing both manual and automatic EcoBoost Mustangs, so you can buy anything yet. However, once the R&D work is completed, you’ll be able to get their Acces Port V3 software upgrade.

Among other, this will offer you five different powertrain setting for your Mustang, obviously ranging from economy-tailored setting to the performance-orientated ones.

We’re not here to discuss the status of the EcoBoost Mustang, but we do have to point out that, as it happens in the case of many cars, commenting online about thousands of horses is one thing, while actually raising the money and buying a car with half that power is another thing.
