Introducing the Euro-spec 2015 Honda CR-V, a facelift that is more than skin deep. Engineers have enhanced the model with comprehensive updates, with highlights consisting of a new diesel engine and nine-speed automatic transmission, a new app-driven connectivity system included as standard, a promise of more engaged and refined driving dynamics and thoughtful visual changes virtually everywhere.

Available in European showrooms from spring 2015, the revamped Honda CR-V boasts with a new 160 PS (118 kw, 158 bhp) 1.6-liter i-DTEC four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, with 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque on tap. Replacing the old 2.2 oil burner, the mill is mated as standard to a six-speed manual, while an all-new nine-speed automatic transmission is also available as an option.

The new two-stage turbo fitted to the 1.6-liter diesel unit feeds from two exhaust gas inlets

One is activated at low pressure and the other at high pressure. The high-pressure turbo is responsible for air flow to the engine at low engine speeds, while the low-pressure turbo operates at high engine speeds.

At mid-range engine speeds, both turbos work in tandem to optimise air flow to the engine. The high-pressure turbo is controlled by a variable geometry turbine to ensure optimal throttle response and reduce energy losses at low engine speeds. The low-pressure turbo is controlled by the usual waste gate.

As for improvements to the chassis and NVH, Honda claims that the 2015 CR-V has been enhanced with better front suspension bushes, dampers and lower-arm knuckle geometry to improve ride quality, the front and rear track were both increased 15 mm to aid stability, while the revised steering ratio is there for a sportier drive. Couple those to the 1.6-liter i-DTEC's fuel economy of 4.9 l/100 km (58 UK mpg) on the combined cycle and you're looking at a pretty impressive package for a family-oriented crossover.

The four-door five-seater model has plenty of other add-ons under its belt, including an array of styling updates, a revamped Honda Connect infotainment system powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as a lot of optional packages and single accessory options.
