Q70 is the Japanese marque’s new way of calling the M sedan family. The change took place last year, reflecting the luxury sedan’s relative position in the Infiniti lineup rather than the engine’s displacement as previously used. With this detail out of the way, let’s talk about the UK-spec Infiniti Q70.
In the United Kingdom, Nissan’s poshest brand has priced the Q70 range at £32,650 for the entry-level 2015 Infiniti Q70 Premium 2.2 turbo diesel. Move on up to the Q70 Sport Tech 3.7 petrol (a similar mill to the one powering the Nissan 370Z sportscar) and you’re looking at £44,100 minus any optional extras.

Of course you get a lot of kit as standard, but not even a generously equipped high-spec model isn’t enough to float the typical Infiniti consumer’s boat. There’s an even more expensive proposition - the £46,600 2015 Infiniti Q70 Premium Tech Hybrid. So how do these three powertrain stack up on paper?

Starting with the 2.2-liter turbo diesel, this motor is rated 170 bhp and 400 Nm. The mid-range 3.7-liter V6 petrol boasts with 320 bhp and 360 Nm of get-up-and-go, while the range-topping 3.5-liter V6 and the electric motor of the Hybrid produce a 364 bhp and 546 Nm of twist. In terms of creature comforts, the Q70 lineup benefits from full LED lights front and rear. Considering the 2.2 diesel will be the best-selling variant, let’s see what it boasts with.

As the manufacturer informs, the 2015 Infiniti Q70 Premium 2.2d (£32,650) is mated as standard to a seven-speed automatic and comes kitted with stuff like chromed accents on the front grille, a rearview parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, the standard Infiniti Connectiviti+ satellite navigation, 18-inch wheels and leather seats with ventilation.
