Trail Rated. This is how Jeep is marketing its most capable variations of models. After the American marque proved that the lil’ B-segment crossover-sized 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk is able to go have fun on big sand dunes, the company applied the same “Trail Rated” treatment for the Cherokee.
The Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is not exactly brand new, but this is the first time British customers are offered with the possibility of ordering one. Priced from £34,425, this model isn’t cheap if you take a moment to find out how much the base grade is priced from - £25,495. But you do get a lot of off-road bits and bobs for the considerable premium.
Powered by a 3,239cc V6 petrol engine delivering 268 bhp and 315 Nm of torque at 4,300rpm, the 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk comes with a suite of options, including special paints, Uconnect sat nav, wireless charging pad for mobile phone, Park Assist and a neat power front, fixed rear sunroof.
Mated to a nine-speed automatic tranny, the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk benefits from 4x4 amenities such as a low-range mode and Selec-Terrain with Rock mode for proper off the beaten path duties. Its Active Drive Lock 4x4 features a rear lock which keeps both wheels spinning at the same speed for enhanced traction.
The KL-gen Cherokee Trailhawk’s Selec-Speed is also useful, allowing it to drive up and down hills at steady speeds. A one-inch factory lift, front and rear skid plates, red tow hooks and “Trail Rated” approach (29.8 degrees) and departure angles (32.1 degrees) complete the list of off-road goodies offered as standard, along with a ground clearance of 22.1 cm (8.7 inches).
Other notable features come in the form of standard Nappa leather, red interior stitching accents, floor mats, a cargo net and an 8.4” touchscreen media system. Told you it's a lot of standard equipment.
