The all-new Fabia hatchback is shaping up to be the most practical supermini launched in many years. However, while Renault, Peugeot and Ford all offer performance versions of their cars, Skoda has decided against this. There simply isn't enough demand for the Fabia RS, but that doesn't mean you won't be able to enjoy a nice set of black wheels.
Far from it, in fact, as Skoda has just launched the new Fabia Monte Carlo. It remains a trim level that can be combined with most basic engine choices, giving you aggressive looks without the terrible fuel consumption.
The Fabia Monte Carlo competes directly with the R-Line version of the Polo, the 2015 Opel Corsa OPC Line and Ford's Fiesta Zetec-S.
Interior-wise, Skoda has installed a three-spoke sports leather steering wheel, black interior and sports seats with individual design. Everything is bundled up together in a package that's noticeably cheaper than the VW counterpart and could be the deciding factor for most young buyers when picking their next supermini.
There's no work on the engines options that will be available on the new Fabia Monte Carlo, but we expect every 1.2 TSI and most of the 1.4 TDI units in combination with all the gearboxes. Outputs should range between 90 and 110 PS.
What do you get?
The trademark of the Monte Carlo kit is the gloss black color, which makes the family car look like it's a bit angry. 16- or 17-inch wheels are offered, together with standard sports suspension, black design wheels, tinted headlights, SunSet (tinted rear window and rear side windows) and tinted panoramic glass roof. The Fabia Monte Carlo competes directly with the R-Line version of the Polo, the 2015 Opel Corsa OPC Line and Ford's Fiesta Zetec-S.
