The first unit of the all-new Superb sedan has just rolled off the production line at the Kvasiny factory today after making its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Even though not a single unit has been delivered, Skoda is calling it a "new era".
For such a big landmark, the first Superb Mk3 is rather dull in its shade of "Business Grey", but you can order brighter green or yellow tones as well. Sources within the company have revealed to us that a Combi estate version will be ready to hit the market later this fall, most likely after the Frankfurt Motor Show.

“We are delighted that it is now under way. Starting production of the new Superb is a fantastic and emotional moment for the whole company and in particular, for the Kvasiny plant. The production of this fantastic car proves the high levels of competence of the plant and its employees,” said Michael Oeljeklaus, Skoda Board Member for Production and Logistics.

Even though it's important and comes with more tech than any other Skoda before it, the Superb is a niche car. Since the first one rolled off the line in 2001, only 700,000 have been sold and in February 2015, only 5,600 found new customers, compared to 32,000 Octavias.

The 2015 Superb is perhaps the most spacious car in its class right now and with the help of brand new engines, it's also more efficient. No less than 8 are available, all turbocharged and mostly available with DSG automatics.

Prices in some markets have already been announced. For example, the Superb starts at 599,900 crowns in the Czech republic or £18,640 in Britain, where the first deliveries will take until September. 7 engines will be offered from launch, with power outputs from 120PS to 280PS.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
