2015 Subaru Impreza Earns Top Safety Pick+ Rating From the IIHS

Subaru of America has a big reason to party thanks to the popular Impreza. The IIHS got the 2015 Impreza and crash tested it like hell, but the Jap didn’t break a sweat, earning the coveted Top Safety Pick+ rating.

The IIHS put the 2014 Subaru Impreza through a lot of torture last year, but still rated it Top Safety Pick. The 2015 model year, however, added that extremely important + at the end thanks to what Subaru calls the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology suite.

EyeSight is dubbed by the Japanese automaker as “the most significant leap in crash prevention since our invention of the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.”

EyeSight represents an extra set of eyes and an extra foot on the brake pedal in critical situations

Some of the highlight active and passive safety features of the EyeSight suite are the adaptive cruise control, lane departure & sway warning, pre-collision throttle management and the pre-collision automated braking. This kit isn’t a bit revolutionary, but it does make driving a whole lot safer.

As you can see in the video below, the revamped 2015 Subaru Impreza achieved the IIHS’ highest rating of ‘Good’ in crashworthiness evaluations of front small overlap, front moderate overlap, side impact, roof crush and rear impact situations.

The 2015MY also received a ‘Superior’ rating in the Institute’s front crash avoidance test thanks to the EyeSight we talked about earlier. Although the base model starts from $18,695, EyeSight is available only on the 2015 Impreza 2.0i Limited 4-door beginning at $25,090 and the 2.0i Sport Limited at $26,885.
