The Renault Captur first appeared on the scene in 2011 as a concept and while the production model isn't as bold, the autoevolution team is at a consensus that this small crossover is a proud car. There are plenty of customization options to make it your own, but this being a 2015 review, we were more concerned with how well the EDC automatic gearbox worked with the 1.5-liter diesel engine.
We're pleased to report that Renault has successfully made a decent powertrain that's responsive and efficient. Combined with their trademark light steering system, the small crossover is super-simple to drive.

As any buyer currently in the market for such a car knows, crossovers aren't cheap. The Captur is about €2,000 more than the equivalent Clio model, but we think it more than makes up for this with the size of its boot, the way it rides and how much space is offered by the cabin.

The really clever stuff happens inside the car, starting with the excellent R-Link infotainment system that can tell you everything from the cheapest gas to how poisonous the air around you is.

The glovebox of the Captur is absurdly large and could probably hold a bunch of bananas and a couple of kilos of oranges. The seats do more than just rest your buns. For example, you can order special covers with velcro backing and zipper locks that can be removed and washed. So if you spill your coffee on the morning commute or your kids get mud on the seats, you can get them clean very easily and cheaply.

It's close, but we think the Renault is better value than the Nissan Juke, not to mention better looking. It's also better built than the Citroen C4 Cactus and it's the only car in this segment currently available with a twin-clutch gearbox. To find out which engine is the best one to buy with the Captur and if the XMOD package is worth the extra money, make sure to check out our expert in-depth review of the 2015 Captur.
