In the latest round of teaser photographs and information, General Motors embellishes the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro with a bucket load of pomp and circumstance. For starters, we are promised an impressive 28 percent greater structural stiffness over the fifth-gen ‘Maro.
According to the Detroit-based automaker, the engineering team behind the sixth-gen Camaro spent approximately 9 million hours in order to provide the added structural rigidity. In the auto industry, computational time is just as important as the aesthetics and ergonomics of a sports car.

It’s impossible to confirm the figure, but it takes a lot of time and effort to hone the dynamics of the Camaro. Do remember how many times our spy photographers spotted the thing on the road and the Nurburgring, in coupe, convertible, V6 and V8 guise. Despite all the previously mentioned brouhaha, the golden bowtie brand only offered pics of the wheels and brakes of the sixth-gen.

In GM’s release, we’re told that the lighter and more rigid Alpha architecture enabled the size and mass of the alloy wheels, tires and brakes to be “scaled accordingly.” As you can see in the pics below, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is equipped with 20-inch five double-spoke wheels, wrapped in 245/40-section Goodyear Eagle F1 rubber.

As far as the braking system is concerned, it’s a given we’re dealing with vented discs front and rear. It’s unknown how performance-oriented the calipers are, but we believe that 4-piston Brembo-developed units will enhance the 6.2-liter LT1 small-block V8-powered 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS' stopping power.

At this moment, there's still no confirmation regarding the 3.7-liter LGX V6 motor and the 2.0 turbo four-pot. Fingers crossed May 16th will clear this matter once and for all.
