Ever wondered what it would look like if General Motors would sell the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro with sub-1LT grade features? X-Tomi Design did and its rendering offers us with a visual answer to our question. Looks sort of curious, doesn’t it?
Right after the Photoshop artist imagined what the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Shooting Brake and four-door Sedan would look like, the base spec Camaro came to (digital) life. Truth be told, it’s interesting how modifying the pixels of a press photograph can turn out to such an interesting visual proposition.
The Hungarian lad that goes by the name X-Tomi started his pixel fantasy from a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro RS painted Nightfall Gray Metallic, then dressed it Hyper Blue Metallic and “peeled off” some exterior bits and bobs. The RS pack’s 20-inch silver-painted alloy wheels, chrome trim, body color side mirror caps and door handles, and vertical LED daytime running lights have been removed.
In their place come black plastic bumpers front and rear and Volkswagen-inspired steel wheels with black center hubcaps. If this rendering had a name, it would be the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Barefoot Edition. In addition to X-Tomi’s design, this base grade Chevrolet Camaro needs a 75 HP 1-liter three-pot from the Volkswagen up! to make one feel like this is the lowest level of car ownership possible.
Stepping from the fantasy world of auto renderings to the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 1LT, the real-life base grade is a real treat. Other than the 2-liter turbocharged engine (275 horsepower on tap) and 6-speed manual transmission, the 1LT comes with 18-inch alloys, LED DRLs and halogen projector-beam headlights.
